Last month, the Orthomolecular Medicine New Service published an article that called vitamin D the nutrient of the decade. William B Grant PhD, from the the director of the Sunlight, Nutrition, and Health Research Center (SUNARC) in San Francisco, California, tells us that numerous studies have found benefits for nearly 100 types of health conditions. Health benefits include a reduced risk of bone diseases, many types of cancer, cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes mellitus, bacterial and viral infectious diseases, and autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis,  neurological conditions such as cognitive dysfunction, as well as improved athletic and physical performance.
